An Email Moment...

Letter Of Complaint To Ulsterbus

To Whom It May Concern,
Im an 18 year old living in Kircubbin. I'm originally from Bangor, and the business that I work for is situated there. So I Unfortunately must travel there everyday. I dont drive yet and therefore depend solely on public transport, and as you know there is not a direct bus from Kircubbin to Bangor; So I have to spend an estimate of £60 - £80 a week using your services which is a lot more than the average person would in one week. You could almost say I follow the Translink bus timetables religiously.

This is why Im rather annoyed at an incident that took place today
I was getting the 9:30am Bus from Newtownards to Bangor on Tuesday, June 13, 2006. I had just walked around the corner when I noticed the Bangor bus waiting at its stop accordingly. Even though it was a short distance away I began running to ensure it didnt leave before I got there. But as I reached the front of the bus the driver shut the doors. I signaled for him to open but he ignored me and started to depart. I kept following the bus as it reversed in the hope that he was just placing himself in an appropriate position Perhaps for safety procedures. Alas he made his feelings towards my efforts very clear when he gave a repelling hand gestureand told me to Fuck Off(And I am not exaggerating either, he told me to Fuck Off) This 1 event in turn encouraged me to write this letter of complaint because...

A) I dont think an extra 5 seconds to let me pay my bus fair would have disrupted the journey in anyway for this bus which by the way - was already half empty. Does this driver not wish to make a bit of extra money for your company?

B)Because of this inconsiderate driver I was half an hour late for the time I normally start at.

C) Above all else, the way in which he responded was not necessary whatsoever

With this example I would like to bring to your attention a rather prominent pattern I have noticed emerging with this particular driver and others alike. This scenario has happened on quite a lot of occasions, and to say that the drivers are quite lenient with the middle aged group would be an understatement. They gladly let them on with a welcoming that resembles a red carpet entrance. But of course when this happens to people in my age group we get an honorary Fuck Off. Or sometimes an even more frustrating technique they use is when they dont even acknowledge you and act as if they dont notice you shouting, waving and tapping on the window like a maniac, only to take the walk of shame back to the bus stops.
The incident was disheartning and I dont think that this is very fair at all, and hopefully with this letter will trigger you to make the appropriate measures to ensure that this will not happen again.
In Summary...Your Bus driver was just a total...ballbag!

Yours Sincerely

Philip Blair

Here was there gay reply...

Dear Mr Blair
Thank you for your recent e-mail message in which outlined an incident involving a bus driver and your attempts to use the bus to Bangor on Tuesday 13th June 2006.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience or delay that this may have caused to your travel plans for that day.
Firstly, may I state that there is a PSV regulation which states that once a bus has closed its doors and started to reverse off the departure stand no person can board and the driver is not obliged to stop. To alleviate incidents such as yours we would advise passengers to ensure that they are in place to board the bus at least one minute before the departure time. This allowance does away with any difficulties. I presume that you must use the 08.10 bus from Kircubbin as this is the only one that will enable you to catch either the 09.00 or 09.30 buses to Bangor as it arrives at Gibsons lane at 08.40.
The PSV regulation is in place to protect the safety of the passenger who may decide to run out into the yard and get knocked down by a bus or another vehicle. It is not a question of the driver being inconsiderate on this occasion.
Unfortunately the driver concerned is currently on holiday so I am unable to question him on the alleged use of foul language to you.
I would not agree with your comments about the different treatment given out to different age groups of passengers.
Yours sincerely
Richard Hudson

Total bullshit!!!!! Especially about the comments on the other age groups!!
